ART CENTRAL

Hey Guys - if you are at Art Central this year, be sure to check out The Sovereign Art Foundation's booth. They asked a selection of artists to create their own pigs.
I made 2, one is very noisy 😂😂😂!

Large Pig: B.A Con
Each year, Hong Kong households and corporates throw away more than 70,000 tonnes of waste computers and waste electrical and electronic equipment. So ravenous are we for the latest gadgetry, that we have become gluttons for the latest must-have electronics with no thought to how this impacts our environment.
B.A Con is made entirely from up cycled materials and is fitted with motion sensors and speakers, designed to surprise the viewer.

She is fitted with both a rechargeable battery and also a mains plug. She has a volume control switch near her tail, and also a power switch. She will run on a fully charged battery for several days. The noises generated are motion triggered from around 1m distance, and are randomly generated by a software algorithm designed specifically for this artwork.

Small Pig: Pepita Regilt
Pepitat Regilt, is the young offspring of B.A Con. Born innocent, she is yet to be fully corrupted by our technology obsessed society. But, with 85 percent of parents allowing children to use technology in the home and kids under 9 years old averaging two hours of screen use per day, it is inevitable that she will become part of a generation more immersed in technology than any generation before.
(A gilt pig is a female under the age of 1 year. Gilt also refers to the act of applying gold leaf to a surface. Pepita Regilt is an anagram of Pirate Piglet 😏 )
